This course covers everything in our Two Day Outdoor First Aid Courses but at a more advanced level and with extra content to help prepare people headed to remote environments overseas.

Course fee includes First Aid Manual and First Aid Certificate valid for three years.

We have approached this course with our own vast experience of leading overseas expeditions knowing what situations you are likely to face and with what kit you are likely to be carrying. To that end the course is designed for first-aiders, but because you may find yourself in some pretty remote places with few resources readily to hand, with experienced trainers leading this course we go beyond the realms of traditional first aid. We aim to give delegates on this course the skills and the confidence to face a whole host of situations from managing trauma to the very common problems of an upset stomach.

Course Objectives Include:

Pre-trip planning with a view to managing medical emergencies
Vital Signs – making informed decisions on the information you have
Primary and secondary surveys – prioritising first aid
Airway management & managing the unconscious casualty
Casualty monitoring in the outdoors
CPR with the use of AEDs (defibrillators)
Bleeding and catastrophic bleed management
Fracture management / immobilising limbs & the use of improvised splints
Managing suspected spinal injuries
Casualty evacuation
Pain management considerations
Snake bites/envenomation
Altitude sickness
Common conditions – asthma, diabetes, seizures, strokes
Managing anaphylaxis far from help
Managing sickness on a field trip
Ten Second Triage

No previous experience is expected

We know that people will join us from a plethora of backgrounds and range of experiences, but also we run our courses on the basis that everyone will have forgotten at least something since their last course, and hence no previous experience is required. We build up the learning incrementally and make sure there is plenty of practical application so that you’re never sat in your seat for long. We also accept that some people will go away having learned only a little maybe, and some will go away having learned LOADS (maybe overload) but in the main we know people enjoy our courses and go away feeling far better-prepared for situations they may face.

You will receive an E-certificate. This means that if you need a paper copy also, please let us know and add £6.50 to the above prices.
Additionally add £17 if you also wish to be assessed for, and certificated for Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) on the same course. If you want an additional full First Aid at Work (FAW) certificate, this costs £50. All prices include VAT.
